Texas musical darling Sara Radle is getting ready to release her new album "Same Sun Shines" on February 21st. With an already impressive musical career (The rentals, walking sleep, Lucy Loves Schroeder) Sarah its trying to show her versatility in this new album, and as the next track will show she is doing that quite well.
In May the 1st will be the US release of Swedish singer Ane Brun album " It All Starts With One". The album has been critically acclaimed in Europe and now its time for America to fall in love with this unique spunky artist. Today I received the first single "Do You Remember" which is a tribal inspired track that lets this artist voice sore above.
Milano Sun its a trio band from Sweden that just sent over their new video for the track "Already Gone". The track its simply superb and the video its just as good; "Already Gone" has a very pop-electronic sound with airy feel, which coincidental was essentially the back bone of the album recorded in 2011. I'm really looking forward to listen more about this band, as this track only peak my interest even more.
London Electronic duo Visitor just sent over a brand new remix from Sound of Arrows's track, "Wonder", out on Neon Gold Records. Visitor's have a really outstanding collection of remixes and original tracks that have slowly put them on the music map, and this track is no exception.
Continuing their streak of great music Goldroom released their ode to the city of LA with the super tropical track called, "Angeles". The track is contagious and simply superb, but alas the MP3 was not made available (no more free pony).
Popular Computer's album "Lite" is being released on February 20th and after a few remixes of the track "Lointain" they've finally released the video for the track . I took some time of my Sunday to listen to the upcoming album and I was pleasantly surprised to discover a solid album. From track one (intro) the whole album is cohesive with loads of French Disco music. If you thought Lointain was the only glittery song, you where quite confused.
I just received a brand new track from French artist Frank Rabeyrolies, the track is called "Evil Rumba". In this track Rabeyrolies creates a echoy electronic sound, with minimalistic tendencies; I find it weird that it caught my attention as I'm normally not attracted to this kind of music since Casiotone bored me to bits.
Today was released Matthew Dear's single Headcage of which I posted a few weeks back; the EP can be purchased and preview here. Today I received track number 2 of this EP. the track is called " In the Middle(I Meet You There)" and its another collaboration, this time with Johnny Pierce of the Brooklyn band The Drums, the track is a convolution of sounds, which come together for a electronic holly like experience.
From the city of Berlin comes a exciting trio called Nias. This band its a gaze of whats going on in the underground scene in Berlin, which I find very thrilling. Today I received their track "Made UP" which comes together with the official video.
I know that this post is supposed to be all about Popular Computer which is great, but I think it has gotten enough recognition since he got into Kitsune's trousers. I think who deserves a bit of attention now is Robataki, who till now hasn't taken any miss steps and keeps producing superb remixes, this one including; now remix does not mean his original work will be great, but wouldn't it be fun if it was though?
Now this is normally not my cup of tea, but something happened today in Yoga, maybe it was because I was working my thyroid, but I have a sudden energy and only this track could appease it. The track is from Canadian duo Indian Handcrafts, which, hooray! Just got sign up to a record label, and will be releasing their new album later this year.
As we all know Futurecop! plays with our nostalgia in order to create something wonderful. As a child of the 80's I can certainly relate to the idea of utilizing a great decade and making something new of it. On January 23 Futurecop! will be releasing the soundtrack to their 80's Sci-Fi " Futureco theMovie" which they've sent a trailer to give us a taste of what is in store.
Labyrinth Ear is releasing their EP February 7th. You might remember Labyrinth Ear from the superb remix of Arthur Russell " This Is How We Walk On the Moon", this EP has the same kind of mysticism put on that remix, with Emily Jacobs dreamlike voice and Tom Evans' utterly genius beat; I played around to a group of friends and they all fell in love with it.
Idaho band Night Genes will be releasing their LP "Like the Blood" on January 31st. Today they've sent over the first track from the upcoming album, called " Cyber Me"; the track is simply superb, sooth, and kind of suave, playing the baritone voice of their lead singer Eric Ingersoll.
Chicago band Secret Colours has just released their album EP3, which you can purchase in band camp. Their track "Faust" has been receiving a lot of attention since the release of the video, and it's a great example of the quality of music this band has in store.
Throughout the year there where many different tracks that have capture our attention here in Indiehere, and what best way to say good bye to the year, that with our picks of this year best music. I think that because of what happens around the world our view of the year can get pessimistic, we hope that this review put things in prospective and helps you remember the good music we shared.
The year is almost over and last year I procrastinated in posting the best of 2010, so this year I started early and made it simple, "Top Downloads of the Year". Thank you all for you support and I hope this 2012 we can share great music together.
I think there are three different aspects in a song. There is the actual music (like the melody, beat, etc.). Then lyrics, which really can't be hollow. And last but thought of as least, the music video. Music, Poetry, Art. Eatliz, a band all the way from Tel Aviv, seems to understand this. And I can proove this, with the help of their "lose this Child" stop motion animation music video. This video was screened at 60 international film and animation festivals, winning 20 awards. Directed by Yuval & Merav Nathan, this video has impressed and dumbfounded audiances all the way from Brazil to the Czech Republic (Go Czech!). The song was taken from their most recent album "Teasing Nature".
I've always been a fan of story telling, I'm fascinated by the power of indie artist to so with music. Liz Green is a UK artist well know for this ability and seeing that she will be releasing her album "O, Devotion" I figured that it would be the best time to feature her in my blog.
Liz Green - Hey Joe
UK band Holy State has been together since 2008, creating some great rock sounds filled with testosterone, this coming April the UK will get to hear their debut album, of which I got a preview video today; also today, I received the brand new video for their single "Lady Magica" which is set in a imaginary world and it vaguely reminds me of a Frandz Ferdinand video The song its pretty amazing, specially for it being made on a boat, yes you heard it right their album is being recorded on a ship...wicked huh!
Many times artist and their PR make decision based on what they think consumers would like; this was the case on the fist track released for the new album of Pretty Good Dance Moves. In theory the track (Movement #8 (I Wonder Why) should have been a hit on everyone's book, you have Brazilian Girls front woman Sabina Sciubba and a pretty kickass electronic band united in one track; however in my opinion the second track just recently released " Movement #2 (1000 Sasa) is a much stronger track than the previous one. Pretty Good Dance Moves have announced their winter tour, now that their album LIMO has been released. although not getting very far on the map, for those lucky enough to live around the area their touring, this should be a very amazing experience.
