Pacific!

I ran into Pacific! by chance I was really in loved with that Klaxons song "As above so below" and contrary to any ones believe I did not go to Pandora; however I ran into a Swedish blog that even though I could not understand what they were saying, I found the song by Pacific! "Break you social system" from there I fell in love with their other music including their Remixes (you know I'm a suckah for remixes). To me they mix a really old sound ito their music, almost dare I say discoish without the gayness of it all.

Cassette Kids

Australian Inide New Wave band is fairly new to the scene. Since 2007 they've been getting rave reviews on their live performances , getting comparisons to such bands as the Klaxons, Bjork, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. In my opinion for a fairly new band they really have a nice raw sound.

Twelve remix

Amazing Dj duo form Rio de Janerio have done it again. After Remixing many of today's amazing artist Twelve have managed to perfect an already amazing song "Get Lucky" by New Young Poney Club.

We shot Jr. projection

What a way to start the year. Yesterday “We shot Jr.” released their new compilations of local artist, saturating it with loads of goodness. Due to time constraints I’ve only been able to savour the first mix; although the list of artists from the second remix are amazing, today personally I’m just going to focus on two songs from the first mix.

Ghosthustler my all-time favorite band was a contributor on this mix quenching our needs for new material. Another song which caught my attention on this mix was by a New York band “Peephole”, they have a really nice little electro pop sound on this song Jr. remixes the song adding nutritional value to the song.

Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya

If you read any blogs you will probably know than regardless of how many attempts anyone has made to get some info on Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya, there is still very little information about them. All this seems unimportant after you listen to their music; as you may know music can be instructive or fun and this one falls into the late one. The song that really has gotten to me is Fuck Friends, the song is already an awesome tune to listen; however CSS came along and decided to make it amazing by remixing it.

Sufjan Stevens

MMM... what is there to say about him, that has not been said about Sufjan, I honestly was about to start to get tired of his usual orchestral music and perfect pitch voice, and just as I was about to say enough, he came along and released his latest single. In The Words of the Government its a completely new sound for in which Sufjan grabs some guitars and rocks the microphone. Kudos !!!

Remixes

There has been a few remixes I’ve been meaning to talk about, but due to shortage of time I’ve been unable to; a few of them have been a big surprise to me, some others just came sent out of heaven due to the dry spell of music releases on December.

The first Remix is by the, oh so well known band Hot Chip. Many music blogers have been going gaga over them, but you know me it takes me a while to digest, if I ever do.

Hot Chip - Just Like We Breakdown (DFARemix).mp3

The second remix is form a band who I love so much and was dieing to watch live, but the prices were ridiculous, plus their last CD wasn’t that impressive; however, I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Erol Alkan; I had the fortune of getting one of his old mixes on a copy of Mix Mag back in Florida and I have to tip my hat to him, this remix makes me so happy, (no other words to describe) he definitely made the magic happen and made a regular song rock.

Interpol - Mammoth (Erol Alkan Remix).mp3

The Liars is another band who when I got their CD I was in love with their sound; however I was not able to be captivated, it felt like they were missing a spice to be completed. You can always count on Crystal Castles to come to the rescue and make it their own sound, it overhauled a good song into an even better one.

Liars - It Fit When I Was a Kid (Crystal Castles remix).mp3

I understand that if I followed trends I would probably would be writing about the CD release of Radiohead’s In Rainbows, but I’ve heard the CD so many times that when I heard the remix of Bjork's song "Unravel" I was totally obsessed over it for weeks.

I have nothing to say about this, it is probably a song that I’m soon to regret I eve said I loved but so far I’m not quite there yet, so listen and enjoy.

Wednesdays at Hailey's

So it’s pretty much a given that Thursdays at Hailey’s it’s a pretty good night to dance your 80’s blues. Yesterday I decided to venture away form my comfort zone and pay a visit to Hailey’s on a Wednesday night, I had heard from some one who wishes to remain anonymous that the nights were really intense. I arrived there around 12:30am due to the failure to get any RSVP from my friends, I also figured that by that point I would know weather it was going to be kicking or just for kicks.

As I entered the club I noticed that at the bar my favorite door girl was bartending (awesome dirnks) and also that Alan Palomo from Ghosthustler was getting some drinks, he said hello to me and told me that he and Jason Faries from the Gazelles were the DJs every Wednesday. The music was amazing, you could really tell Palomo and Faries really put some thought in finding great unknown and remixed tunes; however, although the music was awesome, I do consider it went highly unappreciated, there was hardly anybody at the dance floor, with the exception of this little crazy hot girl who was dancing her heart out.

Let me summarize the night and end this never ending rambling. There was the posse of hooded hipsters standing by the DJ booth; let me perform a public announcement to all the hipsters out there: this season don’t forget to buy an ugly hoodie and wear the hood up that way you can blend in and hide how uninteresting you really are (Thanks Lady Sovereign). Then let’s not forget the sluts. Oh… the sluts, you all give girls a bad name, be proud!!! On one corner we have the Dancing Sluts: with really short skirts trying to get filled by anyone who has a dick and fulfill the love their daddy never gave them. At the Men’s restroom we have the Shy Slut: who gets completely appalled for being found giving a guy a blowjob at the men’s restroom; if this ever happen to you let me give you some advice, don’t be shy own it, unlike the corner sluts you are only one step away from becoming a corner hooker, Congratulations!!!

Overall it was really fun being there, I cant wait to comeback and really get my dance on, and maybe just maybe have a little encounter with Bathroom Slut, aim high girl, aim high.
