Theatre of Disco

From the land of the rooos and beautiful women comes my Pick of the month Theatre of Disco an amazingly fun electro beat band who totally bring the party on to their shows, with their great beats and fascination with Tokyo I've been listening to them over and over and over.
Leave it for the Twelves to take a song to a whole new different level, three days ago they remixed "Yoa" by the Theatre of Disco, getting amazing reviews all around the blogesphere.

Portishead

Portishead has been missing form the music scene for a few years; whenever I found out they were coming out with a new CD in April I decided to investigate. Because I live in the US I won’t be able to buy the CD until then; however as you all know CDs get released first in other countries and then at the end they come to the US. I’ve been listening to the CD for the last few weeks and I can tell you, it’s just like the Porishead we remember, I definitely recommend this CD it may be the In Rainbows of April.

Why?

In order not have a post with my so familiar catchy phrase, “I’ve known about this artist for a while but…” I’ve decided to bite the bullet and write about them before is too late.
Why? has not only become the butt of every joke replacing the, oh so old “Who” joke, their March 11 release “Alopecia” has become top rated in all Inide blogs. Eliminating their Hip Hop roots and adding some guitar distortions “Alopecia”, make why more aligned into the Indie rock styles we all love.

The Presets

How lame am I, I’ve been so busy that I half assed the last post and to top it off I’ve known about this band for about two or three months back (thanks Tiffany), but have not bloged about it. The presets are an Australia based electro duo who made a big splash with their smash hit “My People”. A new video was released for their new up coming CD “This boy’s in love” which is what actually made me make a post. Their new album hits the stores April 12 and if is half as good as their previous album, it should be a hit.

Lykke li

A beautiful singer form Sweden, Lykke Li came into my radar via Google, (sorry no Stereo gum for me) with her song a "Little Bit"; however I just ran into a new remix of her song " I'm good I'm gone" and I thought, " hey you know I'm having a slow week, why don't I write a blog on Lykke Li". So there you have it, unfortunately her CD is not available in the US with the exception than her website, so if interested buy it, I can guarantee you its pure gold; c'mon Peter Bjorn helped produce it .

Joanna Newsom Pocketknife Remix

Joanna Newsom is a California native; since her beginnings she has created her own signature style, leaving a great mark in the Inide community. At first I thought her voice though strong, may have been a bit too much for my ears; however the more I started listening the more I fell in love with her sound. Pocketknife has been creating music for a long beautiful time; now a New York resident Pocketknife has remixed a wide variety of artist, most recently Joanna Newsom.

Siriusmo

Siriusmo is a German builder who started as a punk band but ended up remixing and creating great electro beats and remixes. One of the remixes who got my attention a while ago, but had forgotten about it until today was Simian Mobile Disco's "Its the Beat; although at first I was a little reluctant I later discovered that Siriusmo had taken a great song a transported it to a whole different level.

Goldfrapp

At work I've been listening to Goldfrapp's new album "Seven Tree". Honestly I've only been a Goldrapp fan since she went into electronica, from what I've read this new CD is her going back back to her beginnings. I must say it took me by surprise that more chill sound; although I must admit it is something that she should have done a long time ago, it is definitely one of my favorite CDs right now.

The Kills

The kills is certainly one of the greatest bands out there and yes they another import from England. As impolite as it may sound every time I play their CD it always makes me wanna do some blow on top of a really hot girl. As I was looking for new remixes out there, I ran into a Simian Mobile Disco remix of their song, "Love is a Deserter". For those of you who are asking is this remix any good, ask you self:
Has anything that SMD ever made really bad?
Aren't The Kills a band who deliver constantly both live and on record?
Should I question whatever I say in this blog?
That's right, that's what I thought...

Elbow

Elbow is one of my favorite bands out there, when everyone started blogging about their new released song and started leaking their single, “Grounds for divorce” I held my self back, mainly because the sound quality of the song leaked was very poor; however now I kind of regret it, since I now missed the released date to blog about it. My plans now is to blog about this awesome band and blame everything on poor internet connection thanks to Time Warner Cable…there I’ve once again washed my hands clean.

Lcd Soundsystem

I must say this past week was awesome musically speaking; I had three full days to do some research, find some great tunes, and write about them. I was really pleased to go out enjoy a great concert by Leslie and the Ly’s and then the bomb dropped… Lcd Soundsystem had a new release. By now of curse you’ve probably heard it from some other blogs; however Lcd is one of the only fairly known artist who still brings joy when they release something new.

Radio LXMBRG

Radio LXMBRG is a Swedish 80’s new wave, electro pop, band that has just released their new LP, “Trivial Matters”. If the first though in mind after reading the many adjectives that describes them is “aren’t they all”, you have definitely not listened to them. Their sound although 80’s vintage has a new fresh feeling which will bring nostalgic thoughts into your head and their LP, from beginning to end deliver on of the most charged sounds out there.
