The Sapiens

Chicago indie band The Sapiens, have just released a brand new single called "Rind". Known for their high energy show, the Sapiens have also been known for conveying the same energy into their recorded songs; Rind is personally one of my favorites song this week not only because it adds a nice level of adrenaline into my blood, but also because the song brings back a nostalgia of old school indie rock.

Hercules and Love Affair

New York native Hercules and Love Affair just released their CD this Tuesday; although their CD has actually been in circulation for quite a while specially in Europe. This release kind of excites me specially cause I always wanted to learn to dance disco and lately form what I've been seeing there is a great deal of artist that are experimenting with a modified version of this genre. Hercules and Love Affair's music is electro 70s if I had to describe it, the are beautifully tied it with the voice of Antony Hegarty, lead vocalist for Antony & The Johnsons (could have sworn he was black)

Ingrid Michaelson

Lately this blog has been shifting slowly to the dance genre; to off set this I decided to blog about a great song that has been on top of my play list for a few weeks, that is Ingrid Michaelson's “The Way I am". Award winning Ingrid Michaelson has been causing Hype in the music world since before her first album was released, and now with two songs prominently showcased in Gray’s Anatomy, this indie songwriter finally gets the attention she definitely deserves. "In the Way I am", Michaelson speaks of unconditional love against all odds and the setting aside of all flaws; although the song is beautifully written, her voice is what makes this song carry the meaning to its listener.

MMMatthias

Its Wednesday, three days more till Friday, but if you are like me and would rather start your party early you'll be pump when you hear of MMMathias. So what if his face is made out of eggs, whoever is able to take the drag out of Coldplay (notice: I only hate them cause they are boring and cause Zach Braff ruin them for me) has my seal of approval; besides of remixing only the top band out there, MMMathias makes the songs unique and original. Once I got this remixes it gave me an extra pump to get me through the weekend, hope yours is amazing.

The Concretes

Swedish multi member band the Concretes just got face lift. The concretes are a band with a very 70ish sound, kind of like the Mamas and the Papas, and Pacific! is another Swedish band who take a different electro approach to Disco; recently Pacifc! remixed one of the Concrete's song called "Keep yours" and put their undeniably touch of electro-magic.

Kleerup featuring Lykke Li

Legendary Swedish DJ Kleerup, who has partner himself with the likes of dance icons like Titillo and Robyn, has now joined efforts with one of my biggest crushes in the music bizz Likke Li. Likke Li's album which album was debuted on march of this year has been stirring up hype all around Europe for a while; for all of those people who get their music out of music blogs, this song by Kleerup comes in great timing. How could anyone describe this song, but as chill, seductive, and simply amazing.

Skew

Skew's new album is being released on early September, so since I still have a few months for it to still be fresh and I'm highly captivated by the single "Stadiums are ok too" I decided to take this little opportunity to hype a little more about him. Skew is a New York native musician who has been producing his own stuff for a while, what sets his music aside form others is in part the mixture of electronic sounds and Hip Hop beats which he uses in all his songs.

MGMT Justice remx.

It feels really strange to blog about something that I have already blogged about, normally once I've blogged about something I try to stay away form it even from remixes; whatever the case was I could not stay away form blogging about MGMT once again. Recently the French Pop gods, Justice released a remix of MGMT's song Electric feel and although I'm not a big fan of Justice I can't deny that this mix is simply superb.

Pharrell, Julian Casablancas, Santogold

There is simply no denying that if I would not blog about this, I would not be doing my job right.
I think is epic when talents such as Pharrell Williams(NERD), Julian Casablancas (the Strokes) and Santi White(Santogold), come together and make amazing music; especially if this music is actually made right. Thank God that this three artist hit gold on their latest track "My Drive Thru".This track actually showcases each individual at its best; the song has an 70's rock feel that can be only attributed to Casablancas style, a funky beat who can easily be connected to Pharrell, and the indisputable vocals of Santogold.

Spygirl

Americans have had a love hate relationship with Canada for years, the only place where both counties have been able to seal their differences and come together is on their love for good music. I personally could not care less what beef one country have with another; though I may live in America I'm not an American, so their rules do not apply to me. This week I had the pleasure to listen to something which came to me unexpectedly, for years I've been battling the idea that most of the Alternative Independent music has started to sound alike, and is also quite boring, but who is there to blame blame? Zach Braff of course. However true the past statement is, I was pleasantly surprised to hear something that brought hope in my life, this was the enchanted melody of Spygirl.
Honestly there is not a scientific reason why this band transcends over other bands Alternative/Indie bands out there, most of this other bands have great musicians, beautifully written melodies, and great lead singers; however whenever this 6 person band plays magic happens. I wish I could actually post the song I was planning on posting, but alas the link was not valid so I'm just going to post a video, so you can go and buy their album where ever is available.

Anoraak

Recently we have you can hear more and more about French new wave Anoraak; all with good reasons they bring an amazing 80's feel as well as mixing it in with a nice French Disco sound, to top it off their remixes are simply exactly what a remix should be. They deffenitly know what their style is, this is evident whenever you visti their blog Valeriecherie were I've heard of songs I had long forgotten. I resently heard a remix to their song "night ride with you" ; although the GRUM's version is great I've decided I rather stick with the Adeyhawke remix.

Black Kids

The Black kids have been leaving a mark on the music scene since the release of their single, "I'm not going to teach your boy friend how to dance" (log title); since then I've been waiting the release of their new release "Hurricane Jane" do out on June 23. Just like their last single it didn't take long for this unreleased single to be remixed; even better the person who remixed it is the Brazilian duo the Twelves, and like with their previews single the Twelves did an amazing reinterpretation of this song.
