Ghost Trains

From the UK comes Ghost Trains an acoustic waterfall of beautiful lyrics. Tim Ellis and Joe Jennings are the two members of this amazing group, and as their Myspace says they got together after working with other bands, to create more intimate and harmonious music, I must agree they certainly have that going, and more. In this occasion I'm featuring the song "Ease Your Mind", in which they feature well their harmonious style as well as acoustic nostalgia.

Ilinois preiew

So last week I posted about swing-state of Pennsylvania band Illinois, and I also mentioned about their up coming project including 114 songs and a movie. Yesterday I received the Youtube preview video of their upcoming movie, followed by the release of "Hang on " their first release on the journey starting election day, I've included the link to the first post explaining this fantastic project, and added an extra tag to make it easy to navigate back to all the post for this project as they come. Please notice I took down the folk tag, as their latest song is not folk its really Indie/Pop meets Psychedelic, something that it doesn't take a musician to appreciate. Stay tuned, for there is more to come.

Zion I Santogold Remix (And More)

Boy, Oh Boy I got a second wind after I listen to Zion I and his remixes. Zion I partnered with Hip Hop producer extraordinaire Amplive are soon to release a full length album entitled "The Takeover" but before there will be a duel-side Mixtape called "The Search and The Seizure " which feature remixes and covers of Old School Hip Hop; as always I procrastinated to blog about the first remix of Public Enemies hit song "Enemy without a Pause", so today I decided to grow a pair (because I'm Hip Hop unsavy) and blog about this had pumping remixes, I specially like the Santogold remix of Starstruck cause it complements the Hip Hop surrounding her voice.

The Glasses

Seattle based one man band The Glasses (Will) has just released his album "Story Problems". What I like about this "One Man band" is that, although he does this all mainly by himself (and help of some talented musical friends), the recordings are really solid his voice is very boyish and Indie genre complementary and it's something that I could see myself listening in an independent movie soundtrack; plus with the risk of using other people's lines, the songs are really catchy and fun to listen (which is what any artist really strives for...right?).

We Have Band

We Have Band has a new single do to be released on their label Kitsune on Maison on November 24th; although they've already had one of their songs on the Kitsune Minimix this will be their first single ever. A remix of their upcoming single was released today remixed by Micachu a London producer/band of the UK; although I understand what the idea behind the release I'm personally not a fan, I really believe think that the original work is much better and dancier than the remix (I know the remix is not meant to be but...). Regardless of my feelings on the Remix I'm still going to include it on the post, I'm also going to include the song that was on Kitsune Minimix, and the original version of "Oh!".

Sneaky Sound System

Sneaky Sound System is all the hype lately, the song is a definate hit, and with the great Breakbot, and Gloves Remix is bound to be one of the greatest songs of this fall (unless something else comes along) I would feel really bad for not posting it, so here you have two.

Doctors and Dealers

Doctors and Dealers are soon to release their sophomore album early 2009 after their debut CD, "Confessions of a Drunken Mind". From the look of their single "On the Dancefloor" and from listening of their Myspace page, I have a very vintage 70 rock feel, I quite like it; even though its not really a bumping sound like I'm normally used to listen it still fulfill my need for good o'l music.

Au Revoir Simone, Pacific! Remix

I've posted about Au Revoir Simone up coming album before, and they keep creating anticipation by sending this amazing remix by probably my all time favorite band, Swedish Pacific!. Pacific as always brings the harmonization and the amazing old school vibe, which in case you haven't notice is what makes a good song fun.

Oh, and Happy Birthday to me!!! no, really!!!

Designer Drugs

I don't Know if you knew this, but Designer Drugs are on tour, in fact they where here in Dallas last Thursday; I'm telling you this because apparently not a soul in Dallas knew, as the Loft was pretty empty. It was really a shame see the turn out, since the set was simply amazing, I still do not regret not getting any sleep the next the day. Oh and Vega was cool only next time lets get a bigger house, huh? (This has been just a rant)

Designer Drugs - Zombies

Lehtmojoe - Tom Petty

Dallas local producer Lehtmojoe its working on releasing his yet untitled album; though yet on his beginning stages on the Bloggersphere love, there is many reason why this producer needs to be taken notice. We have the privileged of having a look at one of the tracks of his up and coming album, and I'm also including a link to Sound Check where you can check out some of his beats.

GRUM

I've been into GRUM since I heard their single "Go Back"; eventhough I normaly like lyrics on my songs GRUM is sound is so compeling that it feels good and fresh. Recently they've released a bran new song called "Woah" , which like GRUM it always include 80's synths with mix of bass.

Hey Champ

I must say if you are feeling like me, you are suffering of a Monday slump. There is really nothing better to make your day better is to listen to some good ol' music; from Chicago we have the band that has uplifted many peoples days by their combo of Independent rock with Electro music Hey Champ, has an old 80's feel with their combination of strings, synths, and keyboards, whenever I first heard them, the first thought that ran into my mind was, lets hope the vocals support their sound; turns out it did making this band a double threat.

Data video Rapture
by naiverecords

I'm not Wowed.

Designer Drugs

You know I've not been a big fan of the latest Designer Drugs remixes, but that all changed today when they released the latest remix of iamx, which I find brilliant and fun for this weekend (hint, hint, for all you DJ's out there); Yes, iamx the second half of Sneaker Pimps and to be honest thought I'm a big fan of them this isn't half bad.

The Virgins - Rich Girls (Chimney Climbers Rmx)

The Virgins its one of those bands I've dropped the ball on, but God has given me a second chance to redeem myself. A few days ago The chimney Climbers a Swedish duo that have remixed the likes of DATA, Bangers in Cash, and the Cool Kids to name a few, recently released the remix of the Virgins single "Rich Girls". If you remember the song "Rich Girls" has already been remixed by RAC (Remix Artist Collective), and was use by the Twelves on their smashing mix, is a contagious song that will keep you bopping around, specially now that it has been given more electronic properties.

Little Bear - Army of Trees

First, I want you to look at the guy on the picture above, then I want you to listen to the two tracks posted below. Little Bear is Nick Principe, a band of one who secluded himself to create an amazing Ep. of serene, lyrical, lo-fi goodness. I honestly don't know if its because winter is approaching or because true music draws you weather you want it or not, but I have listen to this Ep. nonstop ever since I first got it; Nick Principe's voice is sweet, serene, and without a care, it transports you to a meadow into a happy place in your mind.

Chairlift

So I know is Friday but due to my indiscretion of taking Two day off I have tons of music I haven't posted. This Tuesday was the release of the new CD by Chairlift called "Does You Inspire You". Just in case you were wondering yes it does include the Ipod song Bruises; however their music transcends past that song, its beautifully written mixed with a hint of Synths.
Chairlift - Bruises
Charilift - Evident Utensil

Rainbow Arabia

So I remember back in 2001 the world went on a craze with mixing Arabian music with pop culture (thanks Fucking Shakira) everyone had Arabian beats mixed with hip hop, and all the fatties were buying the Belly Dancing DVDs to loose weight (I was tempted). Rainbow Arabia is a duo form California who have taken Arabian music and added a splash of electro synths to their wailing and tribal calls, it is simply amazing, whats better is that they have a concert planned for the DFW area which I'm so going to check out.
Rainbow Arabia - Omar K
Rainbow Arabia - I Know, I See I Love I Go

Sydney Confirm Mix

Due to time constraints I was not able to post this yesterday. Sydney Confirm released yesterday a Mini Mix called " Two Woots for Cutureless Cultures"; which is humours to me since I just had a small conversation with one of the guys abut that same subject. It is normal to see a lot of kids (scenesters) on events which attract loads of media attention; many people know about artist like Hot Chip, Cut Copy, Presets, and others, because of car commercials, independent media exposure, or because a friend, " You" the blog readers has told them about those artist (just ask my roomate); however they have no appreciation about what the culture has to offer, or have done their homework to learn more about the artist history. So Sydney confirm has done a Mini Mix with the basics on electro music to teach those people the basics.

Populous and Short Stories

From Italy comes Populous with Shorts Stories. This Tuesday was the release of the third album by DJ Populous or Andrea Mangia, and MC Short Stories or Michael McGuire called "Drawn in Basics'; its jammed packed with synthesisers and hybrid digital sounds. Its a great alternative for fans of Postal Service (if there is anyone left) who like the relaxed beats they used to provide.
