Red Monroe 3 song release

Red Monroe is back with three new songs, available for Free downloading on MP3 format, or 5.1 digital surround sound on their website: Redmonroe.com. I was talking to this duche bag at this after party and we where talking of how much we enjoyed Red Monroe's last album Policia! Policia! And this guy said that they had broken up just like this other band form Dallas had, which seemed weird since not long ago I had seen their live video of "Pat Mayse Lake" but I kept quiet since I hadn't heard from my friend of the band that with love I call "Vagina". I was really happy to hear their latest project releases, first of all it sounds like they've mature their sound without loosing their essence, but at the same time they seem to be having more fun than ever. I love how on their song Eastern PA they've added some voice distortion, it has been a while since I've seen them preform live, but I can already tell that the next time I seen them I'll feel as exhilarated as I always do and since they seem to come with more energy than ever its going to be an F'ing show!!!.

Patrick Pleau

From the beautiful city of Montreal comes a new artist called Patric Pleau. Patric Pleau is an Indie Pop artist whose sound is comparable of those rock bands of the 70's, I don't know if its because he is singing in french or is just the music, ether way the music is superb. He send us his latest album called "Hype-moi" to share it with you all, but you can show him some love at his myspace page, hopefully his lyrics are as good as they sound.

Patric Pleau - Cimetiere Lunaire

Patric Pleau - Antigenie

Patric Pleau - Linoceros

Patric Pleau - Bocalophobe

Patric Pleau - Tous Les Cliches

Bonus:

Yeah, I know there are so, so, so, may remixes of this song out there, I just happen to like this one, my apologies.

The Ropes

A few days ago I posted about The Ropes and their amazing ep"Be My Gun". Today the Ropes are back with a video of their single "Be My Gun". What I love about The Ropes is their chill sound, it almost reminds me of The Knifes meet the The Chromatics, aside from that their music always leaves me wanting for more.

The Knifes - Be My Gun
The Knifes - Kitty Get Down

Great Northern

Great Northern has just finished their SXSW shows and are now prepping to do their May tours with the The Dears. Great Northern is a California band comprised of Solon Bixler (30 seconds to Mars), Rachel Stolte, Michael Regilio, and Davey Latter. Their music is Indie Pop with a touch of melancholy, mixed with elaborate arrangements of electronic synths all around. On April 28th they will be releasing their third album entitled "Remind Me Where The Light Is " under the independent label Eenie Meenie Records, and they've send us the album for listening and reviewing, as well as to share it with you all; picking a song out of the album resulted into a more difficult task that of what I first thought, but I think that the following three songs are a great indicative of how great this album is, I think it helps if you turn the volume up and let your self indulge into the music.

Recently they've have started to take off and becomed more well know on the music business, by recently being featured as the "New Band of the Week" by Indie103.1 FM and playing on Sarah Michelle Gellar Penthouse party. Today they are bringing us some two songs of their ep. and if you wish to get the ep. in its entirety you can now purchase it on iTunes.

    Leerone Coldwarkids

    Part I. Before the show
I arrived to the Cold War Kids show 2 hours early. I was determined to be in the very front in order to have an unobstructed view when taking photographs. I brought flyers with me, the flyers advertise my free download offer on my website, along with labels to stick onto the flyers while I waited. The labels included my show information (my show was the following day). I would later hand out flyers to any willing recipients. I was pleasantly surprised when three lovely ladies who saw me at work kindly offered to help me with the tedious task (Kelly, Amulya & Charu). Then, another sweet soul joined, and then another and another. After conversing, I learned that they were all Austin natives. Their generosity left me thinking that Austin people are awesome!!

    Thanks Leerone

    Leerone SXSW St. Vincent

Annie Clark of Saint Vincent is not apologetic and I like that. She performed at the Presbyterian Church- the acoustics were gorgeous! She is a sick guitarist. Her voice is deliciously sweet… Definitely a fantastic performer.

    Thank's Leerone

    Cesi Bastida

Cesi Bastida, a Latin indie artist from Tijuana, performed at Flamingo last night. She sings in Spanish, dances and plays an array of instruments including the melodica and a tom (drum). She’s pretty darn amiable! The band (James Bairian, Jorge Villanueva, Dave Green, Louis Castle, Danny Rukasin) was very tight and looked like they were having the best time (that’s always a pleasure to witness). I heard quite a few people in the crowd saying “Te Llamó” and in addition to professing their love, the audience was jumping and dancing. Her energy is contagious, uplifting and fun.

    Leerone SXSW Shameless Promotion

It takes tremendous courage, strength and conviction to self-promote. It is one of the most challenging and daunting tasks, especially when you are humble and the thing you are promoting is intimately embedded with your deepest emotions. I give Tony Avitia serious props for his approach and execution. Not because it was an effective method (I hope it was), but because he was doing what most artists are too scared and proud to do. I shot this clip inside the Austin Convention Hall, where he stood wearing a gigantic sign with information about his band.

    SXSW Day 2

On Day 2 of the SXSW festival, the day started after I desperately tried to cure my hangover from the night before, it didn't help that I spend the whole morning running around the American Apparel Flea Market Sale running through boxes to bring presents to my friends back at home, but failed miserably; however I'm a professional so I decided to toughen up and head to the Waterloo Park to the "Mess with Texas Party", some of the headliners there included Kid Sister, The Black Lips , and Akron Family to name but a few. To be honest with you I didn't care much about what I saw, specially for Kid Sister, in my opinion she is just as fake as Kanye West who was at the festival but I intentionally proceeded to ignore and succeeded. The only thing that called my short attention span was The Black Lips who put an amazing adrenaline filled show, with their 1970 Rock and Roll revival music.
The Black Lips - Take My Heart

After leaving the Waterloo my friend got invited to a house party where some bands where playing (duh! this is Austin), I wasn't expecting to see anything worth my while, but oh, how wrong I was; there I was fortunate enough to see a hair raising show by the Earth People Orchestra, a group from Boston who in unison sing and play an array of instruments, kitchen utensils like pot pans, and toys, the lyrics where touching and so pure that I could not help but drop my mouth wide open.
Earth People Orchestra - Earth People Anthem

To finish my SXSW experience I decided head back to the Canvas bar where all my friends from Dallas had united to provide our support to the guys from Vega who played one of the best shows they've ever played, demonstrating that when you make music with friends it can not only be fun but entretaining. That was not the only reason why I decide to go there, the list of performers was amazing, I was able to dance to Miami Horror, Treasure Fingers, Evil Nine, Futurecop!, and Ac Slater to name a few, Wow!!! What else do you want !!!

    Vega - Well Known Pleasures
Miami Horror & Dan Hartman - Starmaker (Reign my fire remix)
    Evil Nine - They Live
    Futurecop! - Transformers (Ghosthustler Remix)
AC Slater - Rock it out

    SXSW Day 1

SXSW was this past week and although I would have loved to be there through out the entire festival I was only able to enjoy a night and a half, due to poor scheduling. I arrived late in Friday afternoon on a warm Texas day to a City full of traffic and music enthusiast, I've never seen so many cutoff shorts and bikes going around the streets of downtown Austin; for those people up north who are looking for the new trend of this summer you've been warned, cut your jeans to a mid to upper thigh and you'll be ready.

After dinner I proceeded to head down town to Antone's since I had already missed the Under the Radar Party, with Viva Voce and Camera Obscura. At Anotone's I was lucky to enjoy the beautiful talent of Mirah a soft spoken singer and song writer form Portland Oregon. After a beautiful performance came the girl of my dreams Annie Clark of St Vincent (which is now a band) with here new helpers Annie Clark showcased her new material of her upcoming album "Actor", unfortunately they weren't selling any merch so I could not purchase it before time.

    St. Vincent - The Strangers
    Mirah - Generosity
Later that night I proceeded to head down the street to Canvas bar where after a long wait on the line I proceeded to enjoy the show by Casiokids, The Golden Filter, and Le Castle Vania to name a few, a combo of about 30 minute shows of dancing goodness and then after after party was in need.
    Golden Filter - Solid Gold
Le Castle Vania - Zero Machine

    MMMatthias Röyksopp Remix

MMMatthias is back yet again with the smoothest remix ever this time form Norway Electronic/Ambient duo Röyksopp and if you've never listened to Röyksopp please free free to go their myspace their music is simply superb. I must say Mmmatthias not only is a great remixer but he also has really good taste in music.

Röyksopp - Vision One (MMMatthias Remix)

Utters is a producer form the UK with a slight Motown sound, he has been working with different artist around the UK, has just recently produced Zarif debut single "Let me back" though the RCA label, today is he is bringing us a remix of Frankmusik's single "Better off as two" as you know I've posted of Frankmusik's remix of Heads We Dance, this song by Frankmusik remixed by Utters is funky enough to make you dance.

    Chrome Kids

Chrome Kids has send us some really good mashups full of base exclusive from their blog; I'm normally not keen on the Hip Hop idea but I've come to the conclusion that Busta Rhymes is one the few Hip Hop artist I can stand. If you would like to follow their blog here is the address : http://chromekids.blogspot.com/.

Monkey Vs Velvet Underground - Venus in Furs Remix
Busta Rhymes vs Stagga -I Got Base Fresh Remix
    Bonus:
Hoshina has just sent this amazing remix of Portishead's song "The Rip" is just simply brilliant with a nice touch of Electronica without having to compromise the original song's integrity, typical of Hoshina's chameleon like style which compliments the song to a different level of greatness.

    Tesla Boy

Tesla Boy is a band from Russia that where recently featured in Valerie that caught my attention for their 80's digital sound, just like almost everything Valerie features, the sound is either discoish or 80's retro, this song sounds like a remake of "She is a Maniac" only, it's not it is something is worth checking out, so I didn't want to miss my chance.

    Tesla Boy -neon love

    Chili Hifly

Chili Hifly was one of my favorite musicians back in 2001. Recently I decided to pop in an old mix of mine from way back when and though my taste has changed greatly, I still found my heart raising whenever "Is it love" came through the speaker. One day I decided to just see if they had continued making delicious dance music, but alas they hadn't; however I did stumble into a really amazing Remix by Les Rythmes Digitales that I think can translate nicely to the Elector beats we are accustomed now a days.

    A-ux Mochipet Remix

A-ux has been taking care of business for those of you who have missed him; however fear not he has just remix California's favorite Electro Pop extraoridinare Mochipet's song "Sharp Drest", hopefully once A-ux finishes to take care of bizznezz he can shoot us some more original works we've learn to love.
On a separate note as you might have already know, the festival SXSW is happening this week in Austin, of which I'm planning to pop in for a few days; however our friend Leerone of whom I've posted before will be sending me post from her own personal blog of events and her own performances in the SXSW festival. I'll will also will be having my weekend recap of the fest, but I'm not taking my computer (Papa is gettin' drunk) so it will have to wait till Monday.

    Viva Voce Devotion

Viva Voce has just released a single of their up coming album Rose City to be released May 26th. If you know me you know that I have a men crush on Kevin Robinson ever since I became aware of his side project the Electric Ill and I saw him playing drums and acoustic guitar when ever Viva Voce played live in Dallas; recently Viva Voce announced that they where doubling in size adding two new members Corrina Repp and Evan Railton. In their new album the change is palpable, in the single "Devotion" the band has a more complete sound although without loosing their harmonious feel characteristic of Viva Voce; the Robinson's together made an amazing band, Viva Voce now is an amazing band.

    Viva Voce - Devotion

    Viva Voce + SXSW 2009*
Wednesday, March 18th - My Old Kentucky Blog Showcase [Radio Room – Midnight]
Thursday, March 19th - Little Radio Party [Red Eyed Fly – 4:00pm]
Friday, March 20th - Under The Radar Party [Flamingo Cantina – 1:30pm]
Saturday, March 21st - Hot Freaks Party [The Mohawk – 3:00pm] **I'm going to this one**:)

    ***Bonus***
Another obsession of mine is Anne Clark of St Vincent , well she recently released a single of her also upcoming album called "Actor", of which I placed a commercial on the side of the page to pre-order. The single "The Strangers" is a more electronic inclined song blended with her beautiful soothing voice; as far as I know it is still only her, but if you where lucky enough to see her last concerts before she went on hiatus, she was accompanied with box from which she created different sounds kind of like the one "Little Boots" uses (I don't know the name of that), still, the song is amazing hope you enjoy it.

    Phoenix 1901

Phoenix is about to release their album "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" on May 26th 2009. Phoenix is a french Indie Rock band who have been together since before Y2K, their first hit was called "If I ever feel better" from their 2000 album United. Wolfgang Amadeus is the bands fifth album and to give us a sneak peak they are offering a free download of the albums first singe, 1901 on their website; DJ Lapse just released a remix of this single, which as always is simply brilliant.
    Phoenix - 1901

    The Ropes "Be My Gun"

Well, I got those MP3 faster than I thought and thank God. Yesterday The Ropes released latest Ep called "Be My Gun" a mesmerizing work that brings back the glory of the Indie Rock, their sound mixes drums, guitars, and synths, which reminds me of kind of music that Californians used to make and I fell in love back a few years back and now wonder why would anyone would stop making such an amazing sound; the sound is relaxed and unapologetic, yet with a great depth provided by lead singer Sharon Shy (is she single handedly bringing back platform shoes?).

    The Ropes

New York band The Ropes have just released a brand new Video of their single "Kitty Get Down" an amazing song of a band that I hope to soon get some MP3s of. I honestly love the mute the mixture of the guitar, drums, and muted voice, it gets my hair standing.

    Fredrick Carlsson Remixes

Frederick Carlsson is a Swedish producer, who has done an amazing work on different remixes of today's top electro and independent artist. Today this handsome mustachio guy is bringing us two remixes one by Digitalism and the other by Hammarin and Robin, both seem to be flawless

top of the chart remixes, as he has already been known back home.
    Bonus remix:
I actually forgot to post this last week, a remix by Mighty Mouse celebrating the soon to be release album by John and Jehn entitled "Oh my love" to be released April 6th, I really tryed to get some more other material to complement this awesome remix but I wasn't able to so I hope you guys enjoy it .

    Kid Cudi Viking Remix

I was really impressed by the sound of The Viking; this Virginia DJ has remade this song by Kid Cudi who for those of us who have absolutely no idea who that is, he is a Hip Hop artist form Cleveland; I honestly dislike Hip Hop, however you can tell the Viking has loads of experience on the club scene and if you wish to listen to other remixes please feel free to go to his myspace page, in it you can listen to an array of different music which are an amazing testimony of his talents, I personally like his song "Blood Candy" but that's just my personal taste.

    Say Hi to you Mom

Say Hi to your Mom has just released their sixth album on the third, this is really exciting because their sound is really electrical and yet mute; I can't pretend that I've been a fan since their first CD debut "Discosadness", I actually discovered them on 2006 but still I am a big fan of them. This new album "Oohs & Aahs" is actually really good I specially like the odd titled song Ohohohohoho, is actually really high energy, you can stream the whole album through AOL Spinner.

    Jensen Sportag Max Tundra Remix

Tomorrow is the big day for this kids of Jensen Sportag the release of their extended Ep "Jackie" is something I'm definitely savouring. In order to instill this excitement in my readers I'm posting the remix of "Cocktease" by Max Tundra, I'm not quite sure that this version is as good as the original, it definetly has the quickness that Max Tundra uses for all of his music. Ill try to post something tomorow for the release.
